Dear Reader,
I am very pleased to welcome you to the first release of ASTRABAT’s newsletter, where you can keep up to date with the latest project’s news and results!
ASTRABAT is an EU-funded project to develop optimal Lithium-ion battery solutions for the increasing demands of the electric vehicle market in particular. It started in January 2020 and will last 3.5 years. Its ultimate goal is to help meet Europe’s need for a safe, high-energy, sustainable and marketable battery for green mobility that could be manufactured in Europe on a massive scale.
This stimulating yet challenging objective requires multidisciplinary knowledge and expertise. This is what brought us together to establish the ASTRABAT consortium, a team of 14 partners from 8 European countries led by CEA. It includes leading research centres and universities, as well as companies in the area of batteries and energy.
Over its first year, ASTRABAT has been working on the development of active electrode materials (NMC-based cathode material and Si-based anode material) and materials for new Li-salt and organic (ORMOCER® and perfluoropolymer) electrolytes and inorganic LLZO electrolytes for a hybrid all-solid-state battery. In the next months we will focus on formulation at laboratory scale, before passing the ball to our industrial partners for cell development from June.
We have also joined forces with three other EU-funded projects on solid-state batteries, namely SAFELiMOVE, SOLiDIFY and SUBLIME. We will work together to promote each other’s results and achieve larger impacts on society. Follow our joint hashtag #LCBAT12019 to keep updated!
But at this point I am sure you’d like to dive into the latest news from ASTRABAT. I take leave by inviting you to check out the ASTRABAT presentation video and to follow our Twitter and LinkedIn profiles.
Once again, thank you for your interest in our mission to contribute to a clean and sustainable European mobility.
Happy reading!
